Después de leer La soledad de los números
primos de Paolo Giordano me pregunto cuál es la fórmula para que la primera novela de un autor se
convierta en un éxito editorial
internacional… personalmente creo que se debe a un trabajo de marketing muy concienzudo, acompañado como no podría
ser de otra manera por un buen material textual. Pero existen muchos tipos de
“buenos materiales textuales” que se pueden subdividir en un gran números de
categorías en los cuales entran en juego diferentes aspectos como: calidad
narrativa, facilidad de lectura y temática.
Este texto me ha dejado frío, La
soledad de los números primos promete en un inicio una historia interesante,
una historia que evoluciona, pero según avanza vemos como esa promesas se queda
en agua de borrajas, pues la historia decae en interés y la evolución de la
trama y de los personajes se queda estancada en una realidad insulsa.
Incluyo aquí la sinopsis:
«En una clase de primer curso Mattia había estudiado que entre los
números primos hay algunos aún más especiales. Los matemáticos los llaman
números primos gemelos: son parejas de números primos que están juntos, o mejor
dicho, casi juntos, pues entre ellos media siempre un número par que los impide
tocarse de verdad. Números como el 11 y el 13, el 17 y el 19, o el 41 y el 43.
Mattia pensaba que Alice y él eran así, dos primos gemelos, solos y perdidos,
juntos pero no lo bastante para tocarse de verdad.»
La soledad, esa palabra
misteriosa… cuasi esotérica, que atrae y al mismo tiempo repele con la debemos
convivir y saber tratar en algunos momentos de nuestra existencia, y que al
verla en el título de un libro nos da la sensación de que el libro esconde una
historia digna de ser leída. En este caso este aspecto y “mérito” corresponde
al editor, ya que fue este el que puso ese título al libro. El título original
del libro era “Dentro y fuera del agua” que podemos ver como título del quinto
capítulo.
A la luz de los dicho
anteriormente, creo que la recomendación del libro es poco probable, sin
embargo, deseo aclarar que no considero esta obra como un mal libro, pero las
expectativas creadas o infundidas por la promoción, desde mi punto de vista, no
se cumplen, al mismo que su lectura en general deja indiferente. Dicha
indiferencia desaparece en los primeros compases del libro en la cual relata
ciertos hechos muy emotivos, pero que se van diluyendo. Una pena, un libro que
al inicio apunta alto y luego se queda en una planicie poco atractiva.
